Lakme Fashion Week (LFW) is a jointly organized by Lakme, the No.1 cosmetics and beauty services brand in India and IMG, the global leader in fashion weeks and event production. LFW has been conceived and created with a vision to “Redefine the future of fashion and Integrate India into the global fashion world”. LFW is organized twice every year.
With Lakme and IMG completing 10 years of association with fashion in India, LFW Spring/Summer 2010, was organized between 18th – 22nd September 2009 at Grand Hyatt, Mumbai.
The fashion industry has evolved through the decade, where Lakme and IMG together have consistently been supporting different stakeholders. As a celebration this season, LFW organized a unique show, titled “Celebrating 10 years of Fashion”, themed as “THEN – NOW – FOREVER”, on the opening night (September 18, 2009), at 9:30 pm. The show had many past Lakme Grand Finale designers, showcase their collection that promised to be a fitting celebration of last 10 years of fashion in India.
LFW’s constant endeavor is to continuously promote quality and ensure high standards of excellence in designer participation. Thus, LFW saw 6 designers in the GenNext category, 2 designers in Emerging and 38 established designers showcasing their remarkable collections and 4 accessory designers in stalls.
Tarun Tahiliani concluded the event with the Lakme Grand Finale collection. All designers showcased their garments for buyers from India and across the globe from countries like France, Hong Kong, Middle East, South Africa and USA.
Season after season, LFW is widely supported by heavyweights from different industries as sponsors that make the prestigious event more enterprising. This season, Gitanjali returned as the associate sponsor while Skoda-Auto, Westside, DHL, Grey Goose and Marie Claire continued to illustrate their support; new sponsors including Samira Habitats, Philips and iNIFD also collaborated with LFW.
