  • Comb / Brush
  • Electric Clipper
  • Newspapers
  • Pair of Good Scissors
  • Water Sprayer

Here Are Some Tips That Make Cutting Hair Easy:

  1. Start out every hair cut with clean wet hair. Shampoo it, get all of the styling products and dirt out, and keep a spray bottle filled with water handy in case the hair starts to dry.
  2. Sharp scissors are easier to work with. Just as you do not use your fabric scissors to cut paper, you should designate a pair of scissors exclusively for hair. Scissors and clippers specifically made for hair are cheaper than you think, and won’t pull hair as you cut it.
  3. Start out by cutting hair a little bit longer than you think you should. You can always trim hair and make it shorter, but if you make a mistake and cut it too short you will have to wait until it re-grows to try again. This is especially true on bangs, as we have all seen bangs that have been cut way too short.
  4. Start out with simple styles at first. Your first few haircuts you should still with making hair all the same length. Using a plastic or wooden ruler will help you make sure that you are cutting hair the same length all the way around. Work in small sections, and smooth hair out with your thumb and index finger from the root to the desired cut length. This technique works great on long and short hair, and for both men and women’s cuts.
  5. As you become more comfortable and experienced with cutting your family’s hair, feel free to try new styles and cuts. There are books, magazines, and websites that can shows you the newest styles out there.
