Determine Your Skin Type Professionally

{YBA} Ignorance is blessing but not in case of skin assessment, as it can create a number of problems due to use of mismatch products according to your skin type. So to, identify and determination of skin type is very important and this guide will help you to beat your ignorance by evaluation of your skin type professionally.

I am going to list different skin types and their characteristics that will help you to find and know about your skin. So you will be able to answer the question, what is your skin type?

1. Normal Skin

This is the skin we’d all love to have. Smooth texture and even color are the major recognition of normal skin. Soft, plump and with small to medium sized pores. This type of skin has no apparent redness, blotchiness, oiliness and no overly shiny t-zone. Normal skin has good elasticity,  smooth and firm to the touch.

2. Mature Skin

Mature skin is characterized by deep furrows at nose and lines around eyes. Saggy neck, Sallow or rosy coloring and flaccid feel to skin is also the representation of mature skin.

3. Oily Skin

Coarse appearance and greasy (unnatural shiny) especially on the nose, chin and forehead put the skin under oily classification. Cysts/ blemishes around temples, forehead, chin, and above the jaw line are the indication of hormonal problems.

Just look at most any teenager going through hormonal changes and you can see oily skin. There’s more of a tendency toward pimples, blackheads, whiteheads etc

4. Dry Skin

If you see skin flaking off or your skin feels tight on your face, you probably are a dry skin type. Dry skin leads to taut, almost drawn and sometimes unnaturally shiny appearance.

Their may be flaky, scaly patches. Character lines (around mouth and eyes) are very visible at an early stage due to thin capillaries in dry skin.

5. Sensitive Skin

A person diagnosis with sensitive skin has a lot more trouble with environmental factors than the average person. Very sensitive to touch. Thin skin, especially on cheeks and nose. Small veins usually visible in eyelids.

Their skin burns more easily in the sun, they have more sensitivity to cosmetics (particularly if perfumed) and may experience rashes or a burning sensation due to overexposure to wind, sun, and extreme shifts in temperature.

6. Dehydrated Skin

Tiny surface lines on the cheeks, and forehead and patches of flaky skin are visible. Fine lines around upper and lower lip, and chin. Skin usually looks dull and lifeless so evaluation is dehydrated skin.

7. Combination Skin

Combination skin is like having a split-personality. Parts of face are dry and parts general T-zone are oily. The term T-zone refers to combination skin types where the forehead, nose and chin are oily but the cheeks and the area around the eyes is either normal or dry.

8. Acne/Dry Skin

Combination of dry and oily skin. Bumpy feeling to entire face and difficult to extract pimples.

9.  Acne/Oily Skin

Pustules, comedones, cysts, large pores, unattractive texture and many blackheads are features of acne/oily skin. There is oil all over.

10. Acne/Rosacea Skin

Name is rosacea due to “rosy” colored face at center. This character is also irritable and problematic. Skin has unattractive appearance, large pores, pimples and blackheads

11. Aging or sun-damaged

This skin also feels tight with visible wrinkles, slack skin tone, especially around the cheeks and jawline with leathery texture and broken capillaries.
